Zion National Park is an American National Park in Southwestern Utah. It was named a National Park in 1919 and contains 146,597 acres. The most prominent feature of the park is Zion Canyon, a 15 mile long canyon formed by the Virgin River over the course of millions of years. The high, vertical walls of the canyon are of reddish and tan sandstone and are up to 2640 feet in height in places.
Human habitation began over 8000 years ago when small groups of Native Americans developed communities in the area. In more recent times Mormon pioneers discovered the canyon and were so overwhelmed by the natural beauty of Zion Canyon that they named it after the Old Testament name for the city of Jerusalem. The park supports more than 800 species of native plants and offers numerous hiking trails. The elevation of Zion ranges from 3666 to 8726 feet. At the end of the 15 mile canyon is "The Narrows" a place where the 1000 foot high canyon walls come together, in some spots being only 20...

Photography is one of my main passions in life. I love photographing anything I see that is beautiful, unusual or special. I enjoy shooting nature, landscape, landmarks, animals, architecture and anything else I see that strikes me as worthy of a camera shot.
