Description
The Senso-ji Temple, also referred to as the Asakusa Kannon Temple, is a Buddhist Temple, originally built in 645 AD. It is the oldest temple in Tokyo. The temple was bombed during WWII, but was totally rebuilt in its original form after the war. It is a magnificent structure with much fine Japanese detailing. Adjacent to the temple is a five-story Shinto pagoda, which is also magnificent. The approach to the temple is a street lined on both sides with shops and eating places.
