Description
The Grand Teton glacier is the largest of about 12 glaciers located in the Grand Teton Mountains in Grand Teton National Park. In this view it is in the lower right bottom edge of the Grand Teton, which is the tallest mountain in the Teton range standing 13,770 ft. above sea level. The glacier is bowl-shaped and covers about 53 acres. It has lost approximately 17 percent of its surface area since 1967. Given this, there is some disagreement as to whether the Teton glaciers have melted or simply went dormant during the early Holocene period.
