Artist's Description
The Hamarikyu Gardens, located in the Chuo district of Tokyo were opened in April, 1946. The beautiful 62 acre rectangle contains many species of Japanese trees, shrubs and a large pond named Shioiri Pond. The Gardens also feature a Japanese tea house. The park is bounded on one side by the Sumida River and on the other sides by the modern city. One of the interesting features of the gardens is a 300 year old pine tree.
