Description
The Kofuku-ji Temple in Nara, Japan, was established in 669. The original structure was moved to its present location in 710. Over the years the temple was damaged or destroyed several times and, each time, rebuilt to its original design. The temple was not only an important center for the Buddhist religion, but also was an influence on the imperial government, as Nara, was the original capital of Japan. The temple is the national headquarters of the Hosso school.
