Description
One of the numerous church bells adorning churches in Oia, Santorini, Greece. The village of Oia rests on the northwest edge of the caldera that forms the island of Santorini. It is about 300 feet above the Aegean Sea and is a collection of thousands of interesting and unique structures, many of which sit on top of each other. There is no vehicular traffic allowed, so the village is a wonderful place for visitors to wander safely on the windy, narrow streets. There are many hotels, restaurants, and churches in Oia. The village also many art galleries as well as private homes. Many of the buildings are built along the steep slope of the edge of the village and feature rooftop decks, where the deck of one house is the roof of the house just below it. It is one of the most scenic, interesting and unusual places in the world.
