Description
Puffins are any of three species of small seabirds having an unusual body and beak. In Iceland are found the Atlantic Puffin. These birds are predominately black and white with a small, stocky build, and large, brightly colored beaks. Their short wings are well-adapted to swimming, which they spend much of their day engaged in. They feed mostly by diving in the water and they nest in small caves, or crevices, along the coastal cliffs. They are most delightful to watch and tourists (like me) can spend hours gazing at their activity, especially at feeding times. In Iceland there are a number of cliff areas that are home to these cute, fun birds.
