Sorrento, Italy, is a town overlooking the Bay of Naples in Southern Italy. A popular tourist destination, Sorrento is located on the Sorrentine Peninsula with easy access to Naples and Pompeii. It is also a "base camp" for tours of the Amalfi Coast. Sorrento is also the debarkation point to the Isle of Capri. The town is widely known for its ceramics, lacework and woodwork shops. As noted in the image the town sits atop a sheer cliff overlooking the bay. Many of the beautiful buildings are built on high retaining walls directly overlooking the water. The views looking down and up are spectacular. The numerous restaurants and shops are a tourist's delight.
