Squaw Valley Ski Resort, California, is one of the largest ski areas in the US and was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympic Games. The remnants of the Olympic Village still stand today. Squaw Valley Ski Resort is the second largest ski area in the Lake Tahoe area, behind only Heavenly.
Located west of Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada with a base of 6200 feet the resort tops out at 9050 feet. There is is scenic aerial tramway that rises 2000 feet to High Camp at an elevation of 8200 feet. High Camp features several recreational facilities including a pool, roller skating, shopping and dining.
In the valley below there is a large summer resort and golf course. Summer features many events including musical concerts, yoga teachers and other festive activities.
