Description
The ultra-contemporary Museo de la Ciences in Valencia, Spain is an interactive museum of science that resembles the skeleton of a whale. I occupies about 350,000 sq. ft. on three floors, each featuring different exhibits. The building is part of the City of Arts and Sciences that occupies the dry river bed of the river Turia, which was rerouted around Valencia. The dry river bed was converted into a linear park with the Oceanographic park at the end of the park, then the Museum of Science, L'Hemispheric, an IMAX theater, planetarium and laserium and finally an Opera House/Performing Arts Center. The entire complex was designed by famed Valencian architect, Santiago Calatrava along with another Spanish architect, Felix Candela.
