Description
Victoria Harbor is a natural landform harbor separating Hong Kong Island from the Kowloon Peninsula to the north in greater Hong Kong, China. The harbor's deep, sheltered waters and strategic location on the South China Sea were instrumental in Hong Kong's establishment as a British colony and its subsequent development as an international trading center. The harbor is lined with hundreds of beautifully designed, very tall, and creatively lighted buildings, ranging from luxury hotels to upscale apartment buildings to office buildings. There are always cruise ships entering and leaving the harbor, freighters and barges carrying their cargo in and out of one of the world's busiest ports and then the colorful sampans, junks and harbor cruisers taking visitors and locals across the harbor. Each night at 8:00 there is a spectacular light show that lasts for 15 minutes and is a wonderful sight for tourists and locals alike.
