Artist's Description
The water lily is a unique flower, native to South America, that typically grows in ponds or other bodies of still or slow moving water. It grows out of green, flat pads that usually surround a cluster of flowers. It is a beautiful ornamental species, but can also be invasive. Water lilies are symbolic in many cultures around the world.
While they are most visible on the surface of fresh stillwater, they are rooted in the mud below, where they overwinter and regrow the following year.
Water lilies are found in a variety of colors including white, blue, pink, purple and yellow.
