The Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine in Kyoto, Japan, is a Shinto shrine with the earliest building constructed around 711. The shrine sits at the base of a mountain also named Inari, that includes trails leading up the mountain to many smaller shrines. First and foremost, Inari is the Kami of rice a leading agricultural product of Japan and one that is worshiped by Japanese farmers hoping for a good harvest. The uniqueness of this shrine is the 10,000 torii gates that lead on a path up the mountain and back down again. These gates have each been donated by a Kyoto business person whose name is engaved on the back of each gate. A trek through the path of the gates is a marvelous experience. There is no other shrine in Japan that can boast a series of torii gates numbering 10,000. The Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine is a wonderful landmark and a must-see for any visitor to Japan.
Photography is one of my main passions in life. I love photographing anything I see that is beautiful, unusual or special. I enjoy shooting nature, landscape, landmarks, animals, architecture and anything else I see that strikes me as worthy of a camera shot. I especially enjoy travel photography and have been fortunate to have seen many wonderful places in this incredible world of ours. I hope that you will find my work worthy of hanging in your residence or office and enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed presenting it to you. Any comments are always appreciated.
