The island of Bora Bora is a tropical paradise located in the South Pacific Ocean. It is part of a group of islands called the Society Islands, that are sometimes referred to in a group as Tahiti. The first overwater villas in the world were built on Bora Bora and vacationing in one of these is a real treat. Most have large terraced decks from which one can enter the calm, warm water. One of the most distinguishing aspects of Bora Bora (and the other Society Islands) is that it is surrounded by a coral reef, which acts a a breaker leaving the water surrounding the island very calm. The tropical fish love to swim in this calm water, as do the tourists. Bora Bora is truly a special place to vacation.
