Artist's Description
Selfoss Waterfall is located just a short distance upstream from its more famous sister waterfall, Dettifoss. It is fed by the same glacial river, Jokulsa a Fjollum. It stands 120 feet tall and its horseshoe shaped cliff is 330 feet in length. It is a very scenic fall - unfortunately we encountered less than ideal weather on photo day, but on any day it is beautiful. It is short and easy hike from Dettifoss and should be included in a visit to Dettifoss. The space between the two waterfalls is a vertical basalt canyon - very striking. Access to Selfoss is from the same parking lot as is Dettifoss.
