Description
The Ryoan-ji Zen Buddhist Temple and garden in Kyoto, Japan, were built by warlord Hosokawa Katsumoto in the mid 15th century. It has been destroyed and rebuilt several times as have many of the temples in Japan. The temple served as a mausoleum for seven emperors. A unique feature of the temple is the dry Zen Garden featuring 15 stones. The temple also features a typical Japanese garden with a beautiful lotus pond. This image features an interior room and displays some of the beautiful art contained in the temple.Ruoan-ji temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
